Wine by the Glass

red wines

pinot noir, adelsheim, “willamette valley”, oregon – $10
this pinot is like a fragrant basket of berries with a characteristic
light oak and earth tone. a silky and luxurious pinot great with
food or to share with good friends and conversation.

montepulciano d’abruzzo, masciarelli, italy – $6
we are huge fans of this wine, definitely old world in style, with
layers of soft black fruit and oak.  our house wine since day one,
a nice everyday drinking and food wine.

malbec, altos las hormigas, mendoza, argentina – $8
this is an extremely well balanced malbec, soft ripe fruit flavors are
complemented by an aromatic bouquet. full bodied and complex with
velvety tannis, this wine drinks well on its own and goes great with
our local cuisine.

merlot, domaine de gournier, cevennes, france – $7
refined for a french country wine, this fun drinking merlot from
provence shows tons of open berry flavors, a smooth and silky
texture, with a balance of tannins and acidity.

cabernet sauvignon, mcmanis, ca – $7
great california cab that blends red and black fruit with overtones
of pepper and cedar. there is no messing around with this big, juicy
cab with a solid backbone- it will take any steak and wash it right
down.

syrah, skinner “el dorado”, placerville, ca – $10
wonderful california syrah from chris pittenger, an up and coming
winemaker and great friend of the bistro.  dark blue fruit aromas
and flavors are complemented by white pepper spice and firm
tannins.

white wines

alvarinho, arca nova, vinho verde, portugal – $6
this is the bistro’s house white wine and one of our all time favorites.
it is young and crisp and has amazing acidity.

insolia, cusumano, sicily – $8
a wonderful new find, very aromatic and floral with flavors of pear and apple. hints of the mediterranean sea in the background, a full mouthfeel and refreshing finish.

pinot grigio, alois lageder, alto adige, italy – $8
a fresh, clean drinking pinot grigio that has crisp fruit flavors, a chalky minerality and lively acidity to balance it all out.  a great pinot grigio by a renowned winemaker.

chardonnay, steele”shooting star”, mendocino – $8
grown in a family owned, totally organic vineyard, this chardonnay drinks clean and fresh with rich fruit flavors and a touch of minerality.

cava, cristalino, spain – $6
fun bubbles from spain. crisp, dry and bright with wonderfully soft frothy bubbles that last.

white zinfandel, beringer, california – $4
simple, sweet, pink and fun.
